by a margin of 700,000. in this elicateerate right now, president obama won with 10 promise of the electorate. we are seeing a changing of the american electorate and have to do a better job as republicans of reaching out. it really comes down to this fundamental idea, this principle-- are we going to talk about what we're for or are we going to talk about what we're against geaness? we lulled ourselves into a belief that in the 2010 elections, because we had very good results in the midterms, that we could be a party of no and run against spending, run against deficits. but in order to prosper and become a majority party we have to talk about what we're for. immigration is an example. what does a modernizedly immigration system look like and how is it part a larger economic argument, part of the argument of values and families? that is our challenge as part of the rebuilding process going forward. >> schieffer: let's talk a little bit-- i want to talk to you about this overseas, problems that may be coming up. clearly, dianne feinstein says, hey, the war on terror is is not over. it's still

will produce $3 trillion in additional tax revenue to pay down deficits and the debt. by the way, that is more than barack obama hopes to get through his massive tax increases. there's more revenue through growth than there ever could be through tax increases, which is one of the ways, by the way, when i'm debating those on the left and they say they're for revenue, i inevitably agree. i'm for revenue, too. the best way to have revenue, i say, sit down with those in the business sector and i say i'd love to double your taxes. they look at me and think, did i come to the wrong meeting? i say i'd love for next year your profits to double and you would happily write twice as big a tax check. up want to pay down our debt, get the economy roaring, get people back to work, 4% growth for a decade, 3 million people would rise out of poverty and be standing on their own feet. we need to be unapologetically the party of growth. we need to get back to growth and number two, we need to get back to opportunity. you know, if you could sum up what went wrong last election, i think it comes down to two words.
